Doorway Appeal

The ongoing development of Doorway Online is in the hands of the Doorway Accessible Software Trust, a non-profit charitable trust. We have planned a large set of activities to build on the success of those already on the site. However, we require funding to develop these activities. We would ask schools, organisations, families and individuals to please support these new developments by donating to the Doorway Accessible Software Trust using the Donate button found on the right.

All donations will go towards the development of new activities for Doorway Online as well as upkeep of the website. If you would like more information about our development plans, or to find out how your donation will be used, please email admin@doorwayonline.org.uk.

Below is the list of the activities we are currently seeking funding for.

1 - Further development of the Doorway Literacy series
- 60 more words with blends and digraphs
- 60 'magic e' words
- adding 'ing' and 'ed' to verbs – tackling a known difficulty that many developing spellers have to overcome.

2 - Up to 100 - Place value and tens & units sums
A suite of activities using number blocks to teach both place value to 100 and addition and subtraction to 100 using vertical presentation.

3 - Counting on and Back – up to 100
This set of activities uses the 1-100 number square as a powerful tool for learners tacking addition and subtraction strategies in the range 1-100.

4 - Animation Jukebox (Music, Animation and Choice)
Research has revealed the need for users with more complex needs to learn how to make independent choices. This jukebox-style activity will present the user with the opportunity to choose and play a range of animations with sounds and music. The animations will include fish swimming, a robot, a bird flying and fireworks.

5 - Up to 20
Following on from the development of the number bonds in the range up to 10, this set of activities will allow learners to interact with number lines and other materials to gain skills in addition and subtraction bridging 10.

6 - Doorway Supermarket
This activity will be a follow up to Cashing In and Till We Meet Again, two currently available money activities. It provides a simulation of a common experience; working out how much you’ll expect to pay for your shopping.

7 - Make a sentence
Activities where learners will learn how to make a simple sentence using the following methods:
(1) rearranging words; (2) filling in missing words; (3) distinguishing between  easily confusable words
This activity will be especially useful for learners with language impairments. Specialist teachers of pupils with language impairment have been asking for these activities to be implemented in the familiar Doorway format.

*Planned activities may be subject to changes or alterations.
